well, there's been some pretty good adventures lately. a couple weeks ago caleb calls me up and asks if i want to go help him haul his dead deer out of the mountains. i naturally was way into it. so he comes into the department at about 7:30 pm and gave me the old severed deer-balls baseball toss. he thought it was funny. anyway, we headed out into the darkness and found the deer. no sign of any lions around too which was good. then we put the deer on a sled and dragged it 3/4 of a mile back to the road, nearly getting lost on the way. The deer is pictured below with caleb, (notice the tongue sticking out).
then we had to stuff it into his honda element, which was kind of interesting to say the least.
then i went to GSA in Denver, saw Cara about 5 times, but never actually managed to hang out. and 4 of us got a free pedicab ride with joe, mikey's buddy, which was fun.
then tonight i was out on a walk in the mountains south of Poky with Esther. we were walking on a four-wheel drive backcountry road. we were idling a while too long at the top of a ridge and it was starting to get dark. on the way back i think we took a wrong turn. we ended up being several miles from where her truck was parked. luckily, two middle-aged guys show up in their SUV and offer a ride back to the bottom. we agree. the passenger gets out of the car with a beer in his hand, and grabs his scoped rifle in the back seat, placing it next to himself in the front seat. meanwhile Esther's dog is growling and barking at them. So we're kind of wondering where this is all headed, but go along with it anyway. in the end, after a couple of beers consumed by both of our rescuers, we make it back unharmed to her truck. they turned out to be pretty good guys. it also turns out you can trust beer drinking, gun carrying strangers when you're alone in the mountains. never would have guessed it before tonight.
glad to see sideburnz is alive and kicking on the internet. and i'm coming back for a week on the 16th i think.
